Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari said on Tuesday that Iran did not notify Doha in advance of the missile attacks that recently targeted the country.

Speaking at a Press conference in Doha on Tuesday, he said Qatari defences remained fully prepared and that the attacks ‘would not go unanswered.’ He added that there were no ongoing communication with Iran at present.

Iranian jets headed to Doha before being shot down

Al Ansari confirmed that the Iranian jets, which Qatar shot down yesterday, had entered Qatari airspace despite being warned. He said the aircraft were headed towards Doha before they were targeted, and that search operations for the crew was still underway.

No evidence of Mossad cells in Qatar

Al Ansari, responding to claims by US broadcaster Tucker Carlson that Qatar and Saudi Arabia had arrested individuals linked to Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, said the Foreign Ministry had no information about any such cells operating in Qatar.

Missile and airspace situation

The spokesperson said Qatar’s stockpile of interceptor missiles had not been exhausted and that the country has ‘enough to deal with the ongoing threat.’ He also noted that there were attempts to attack Hamad International Airport, but all of them failed, and reiterated that air defences remained on high alert.

Stranded passengers

With Qatari airspace still closed, Al Ansari said almost 8,000 people were stranded in transit in the country as flights remain disrupted.

‘All of Qatar’s territory is a target’

Al Ansari stated that, according to Qatar’s assessment, Iranian targets were not limited to military sites, but extended to all of Qatar’s territory, underscoring that the recent attacks have been directed at the country as a whole, not only at specific defence installations.
