Qatar’s healthcare sector has maintained a strong focus on establishing new facilities to address the healthcare needs of the growing population.
Under this ambition, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has planned to set up four new primary health centers (HCs) at different locations in the country.
According to a report by the local Arabic daily, Arrayah, the new centers will be opened in Al Hilal, Bani Hajer, Umm Ghuwailina and Khalifa City by 2024.
These new centers will feature several services and comprise specialized clinics such as dental, ENT, chronic and skin disease treatment as well as physiotherapy and wellness services, according to Arrayah.
The centers are being planned in addition to the five health centers that Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal, is expected to hand over to the Ministry of Public Health this year.
Once the buildings of five new health centers in Al Sadd, South Al Wakra, Al Meshaf, Ain Khaled and Al Khor are completed, the number of PHCC HCs will rise to 32.
Last month, Ashghal announced the completion of the main works of the South Al Wakra Health Center.
The state-of-the-art center covers an area of 3000 square meters. It comprises a single-story main building, which houses the main clinical building, with nine clinics.
The center also features annex buildings such as a mosque, support services building, guards building, monitoring chamber, electrical and mechanical maintenance annex, a garage for ambulances and parking slots for 125 cars.
According to Ashghal, the South Al Wakra Health Center is expected to serve 360 visitors daily.
