Multiple loud explosions have been heard in the skies above Qatar’s capital Doha. While the first loud bangs were reported at approximately 11.54am, it continued after a brief lull.

It is understood that the country’s defence systems are intercepting missiles entering the Qatari airspace.

Qatar’s Defence Ministry said its air defence systems were intercepting a missile attack.

Meanwhile, people in Qatar received Emergency Alert Messages about elevated threat level and need to remain cautious.

“The security threat level is elevated. Everyone is required to remain indoors, refrain from going out, and stay away from windows and exposed areas, in order to ensure public safety,” read the message.
