Four Kuwaiti security and emergency personnel have been killed while on duty, authorities said on Sunday, as the country continues to grapple with the impact of Iranian drone and missile attacks.
Kuwait’s Interior Ministry announced that two border security personnel were killed ‘at dawn’ while carrying out their duties.
In a statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency, the ministry identified the men as Warrant Officer Abdullah Imad Al Sharrah and Major Fahd Abdulaziz Al Majmaid, and said it expressed its ‘profound grief and sorrow’ over their deaths. The ministry did not specify the exact location or circumstances of the incident.
Separately, Kuwait’s Fire Force said that two of its officers were killed ‘while performing duties.’
The brief statement, published on X, did not provide further details on how or where they died. Earlier in the day, Kuwaiti authorities said firefighters were working to extinguish a blaze at fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport following a drone attack.
Officials have not yet clarified whether the firefighters’ deaths were connected to the airport fire or to other incidents linked to the ongoing attacks.
