Qatar on Saturday hosted the inaugural Arab Cyber Exercise with the participation of 21 Arab countries and the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers.
The exercise aims to enhance joint Arab cooperation in cybersecurity, promote collective response strategies, and strengthen regional cyber readiness through the exchange of expertise.
Ahmed Al-Hammadi, Director General of Qatar’s National Cybersecurity Agency, highlighted that the region continues to face cross-border threats targeting digital infrastructure, creating a rapidly evolving security landscape that demands heightened preparedness and proactive awareness.
He noted that this year’s exercise scenario developed by the Agency was tailored to reflect the unique operational environments of national cybersecurity institutions across participating states.
Al-Hammadi also emphasized that Qatar’s national cyber drills, launched in 2013, have become a benchmark for institutional and economic resilience across the region.
The Arab Cyber Exercise took place alongside Qatar’s 12th National Cyber Drill, launched on November 16, with several national entities participating in simulated real-world threats to critical digital infrastructure.
