Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MOI) announced that the country has officially joined the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program for citizens of visa-exempt countries who wish to travel to or transit through Canada.

This comes within the framework of cooperation and coordination between Qatar and the friendly government of Canada.

In a statement, the MOI explained that the eTA allows Qatari citizens to obtain approval electronically within minutes. The eTA is valid for five years, or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. It can be used multiple times without the need to reapply, and allows for stays of up to six months per entry. The issuance fee is CAD 7.

The MOI noted that this accession is the result of ongoing cooperation and coordination, a key milestone of which was the visit of a delegation from the Canadian Ministry of Immigration to the Qatari Ministry of Interior from June 4 to 6, 2024.

The delegation reviewed the procedures implemented by MOI and ensured their compliance with the program’s standards and requirements.

The MOI also published the online application process for citizens wishing to travel to Canada, which involves scanning a QR code.
